Rosemary Clooney


A jazz singer and actress from in Maysville, KY (born: May 23, 1928 - June 29 2002) Cause of death: Lung Cancer

After her sister retired from singing, Rosemary Clooney went to New York to launch her solo career around 1949. Two years later, after signing with Columbia Records, she had her first number one hit with “Come On-a My House.” More hits followed, such as “Hey There,” “This Ole House,” and “Tenderly.” Around this time, she also appeared in a few feature films, such as The Stars Are Singing (1953) and White Christmas (1954) with Bing Crosby. In the late 1950s, Clooney had her own self-titled television show.

Clooney's career languished in the 1960s, partly due to problems related to depression and drug addiction, but revived in 1974, when her White Christmas co-star Bing Crosby asked her to appear with him at a show marking his 50th anniversary in show business.

Oscar Peterson



Oscar Emmanuel Peterson ( Born August 15, 1925 – December 23, 2007) was a Canadian jazz musician


Born in Montreal and later made Toronto his home, made hundreds of recordings in his career, even after a stroke in 1993 disabled his left hand.

As a child, Oscar learned to play piano very quickly and it became evident he had enourmous talent. He practiced up to 14 hours a day. In his childhood, most of his influence was in classical music and his teachers were all of clasical music background. His father wanted Oscar to become a great classical pianist, but Oscars desire was in Jazz. His sister, Daisy supported Oscar and helped him get onto a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation competition. Oscar won the competition and earned himself a spot on a radio show where he played piano once a week.

In 1960, Oscar, opened the Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Toronto, Ontario. The school is successfu but financial difficulties forced the doors to close after only three years of operation. During 1962 Oscar and the trio had an amazing year that resulted in the production of seven studio and four live albums within the year.

His cause of death was kidney failure.
